| So, just to put a fine point on this, NetWorker supports more than one
TL8nn on the same server only if the MUSL (_not_ MUML) firmware is used
by all of the TL8nn devices.
True?
Thanks

May be just semantics -
When you link TL820 Series towers together and using MUSL (FW version
2A5A), it's considered by the server as ONE jukebox not multiple jukeboxes.

| If you have multiple TL82x towers bolted together:
If you run the MUSL firmware, NetWorker will see it as one BIG jukebox,
and respond accordingly.
If you run the MUML firmware, NetWorker will see it as multiple
independant jukeboxes, incapable of interchanging tapes.
In either case you are supported.

Ah! I didn't know that MUML was supported. Good to know.
Thanks!

| I'm planning to use NetWorker Server for Digital UNIX with a
TL893-TL896 MUSL set. Any problems with this? In FY98, this may grow
to a TL893-TL896-TL893-TL893 set. Any problems there?
Thanks!

| NetWorker has been verified with a full 5 tower setup. We
use a 3-6-3 here all the time.

| Roger, I think the concern is over mixing drives instead of
mixing capacities. CompacTape IVs written by a TZ89 look
blank when read on a TZ88 is one potential problem. When
mixing either the 88 or 89 with TZ87s the problems can get
worse, since the TZ87 doesn't like the CompacTape IVs that
might be in the library. This isn't as much a problem on
Digital UNIX or NT, can be a hassle on OpenVMS when you get
a CompacTape IV stuck in a TZ87.

| Alan, .8 showed all units being upgraded to TZ89 drives. I agree,
you don't want to mix drive types.
