NetWorker Save and Restore Database Module for Oracle V2.0
This is the version 2.0 release of the NetWorker Database Module for Oracle
which supports online backups of Oracle Servers running on
Digital Unix. This release contains support for the following versions:
* Digital Unix v3.2C or higher Operating Systems.
* Oracle v7.1.3 or higher
* EBU V2.0.12.4.0 or higher
* ASE 1.3 or higher, or TruClusters V1.0 or higher
Requirements:
* We are looking for sites to run the field test for a minimum of six
weeks.
* We are interested in sites that fit one (or more) of the following
performance configurations:
--(HIGH) NetWorker Server and Oracle Server on same system:
*Digital Unix V4.0 or higher
*ASE v1.3 or higher, or TruCluster V1.0 or higher
*NetWorker server version 4.2A on Digital Unix (or higher)
*Oracle Server version 7.3.x or higher
*Enterprise Backup Utility V2.0.12.4.0 or higher
--(MEDIUM)
*NetWorker Server and Oracle Server on seperate systems using FDDI
*ASE v1.3, TruCluster V1.0, NetWorker 4.2A, Oracle 7.3.x, EBU
V2.0.12.4.0 (or higher for any versions cited)
--or--
*NetWorker Server and Oracle Server on same system
*NetWorker server version 3.2A on Digital Unix (or higher)
*Oracle Server version 7.1.6 or higher
*Enterprise Backup Utility V2.0.10.0 or higher
--(LOW) [same as MEDIUM, using Ethernet]
* There are no requirements for the number of clients, volume of data or
production system.
* It would be desirable to have a jukebox, due to the nature of the data
being backed up.
* Experience with NetWorker software, preferably already running a
NetWorker server in the environment.
If you are interested in participating, please return the attached Field
Test Questionaire. The questionaire is important for test tracking purposes.
It allows us to determine coverage for quality purposes and to document test
site experiences with the software. The test software will only be available
to sites which have completed and submitted the questionaire.
As a field test participant, it is expected that you will provide feedback
regarding your testing when polled.
We expect those sites that are selected to do the following kinds of tests
using DMO v2.0:
* save an Oracle Database, Tablespace, and/or file (these can reside on
UFS or AdvFS filesystems, or raw partitions), both off-line and
on-line
* restore and recover an Oracle Database
* Do the backup & recover operations within an ASE or TruCluster
environment (if applicable)
* Perform backups using NetWorker Scheduling
* Report performance findings to NetWorker Engineering
Sites can submit the completed questionaire electronically to
[email protected] or they can FAX it to:
Diane Adams

Digital UNIX V4.0A, V4.B, PT-Minor (X4.0D)
We are looking for interested field test participants for NetWorker Save and
Restore V4.3 Server for Digital UNIX V4.0A, V4B. If you meet the requirements
listed below, please fill out the attached questionnaire. Field Test may be
available at the end of March 1997.
This new release contains major performance improvements for local system
backup. Our goal is to increase local backup performance by an order of
magnitude or better. Remote backups may see a slight performance improvement
as well.
Sites that are using DMO to backup their ORACLE database should
be running
- NetWorker V4.3
- ORACLE V 7.1.6 or higher
- EBU (Enterprise Backup Utility) 2.0.12.4.0
- DMO V2.0
We would ask that each site run the field test kit for a minimum of
four weeks, and execute as many of the following operations as possible:
- Nightly savegroups
- Compare performance of new server to that of NSR V4.2A/V4.2B server
- Save and recover data, as root and unprivileged user
- Recover data saved with a previous version of NetWorker
- Use a jukebox, if available
We're looking for Digital UNIX V4.0A, V4.0B and PT-Minor (X4.0D) sites. If
you're interested in participating, or you know of a customer who would be a
good field test site, please return the attached Field Test Questionnaire.
The questionnaire is important for test tracking purposes. It allows us to
determine coverage for quality purposes, to send customers hardcopy
documentation, and to document test site experiences with the software.
The test software will only be available to sites which have completed
and submitted the questionaire.
Sites can submit the completed questionnaire electronically to
[email protected] or they can FAX it to:
Diane Adams
