334.0. "Client connects as guest instead of user" by GIDDAY::CRISOLOGO () Fri Jun 06 1997 02:39

Hi,

My custoner has NT V4.0 (Build 1381) workstation client and PATHWORKS32 on her
PC. When she tries to connect, it connects her as GUEST instead of user TREAGUN.

For instance, her username and pass typed in after CTRL-ALT-DEL is TREAGUN and
YAM05NT respectively. Now when she goes to map network drive and type

	\\ACTA00_ALIAS\CORPAPPS

the server tries to log her in as GUEST twice. We've got intrusion records when
this happens as the GUEST password is not null. When I make the GUEST password
null on the PATHWORKS V5.0D server, she is then logged in as GUEST.

From the PC, she is prompted for her username and password but this never gets
validated at all. In fact, I would have thought that she should not be prompted
for username and password at all when she tries to map to network drive because
client should just pass her username and password that were entered after she
hits the CTRL-ALT-DEL key (Windows NT login).

She is not part of the PATHWORKS domain in fact she has a bogus workgroup.
NETBEUI, TCPIP and DECnet are installed. Licensing alright.

I believe the PC is on a WAN from the license server log file entry.

Any clues as where to start looking. Nothing in ADMIN/ANAL or NET ERROR.

Thanks,
