324.0. "Decnet clientes NT4.0 pw32" by BARNA::DSMAIL () Thu May 29 1997 12:07

    I have a customer with 40 PCS with WIN3.11 running PW5.0 only
    Decnet,Lan manager Network.A WINNT server 4.0 SP2 with PW32, Decnet.
The clients can acces to the NT shares without problems.I can copy
files from the PC to NT server. However if I try and copy files to the
NT system to the PC, the PC hangs in the copy and needs re-booting.On
the NT the error message produced is:

ID: 2012, SOURCE: SRV, TYPE: ERROR, DESCRIPTION: The server has
    encountered a Networkk error.

If I perform the same file copy from DOS everything is OK.
There are other clientes with Win3.11 PW5.0, tcp/ip an Netbios working OK.
There is some incompatibility with this clients and the NT server with
    PW32?

    Any help wouldd be appreciated.

    	Carmen.

There should not be... however, PATHWORKS v5.0 did have several things
wrong with it, that were fixed (CLD's) in later versions...

More information is required to determine what the problem actually
is.

An upgrade of the clients may be in order.

Can you make an IRIS trace of the copy. I'am shure you will see a SMB
readblkraw request to the server. When there is a file-offset in this
command the server doesn't respond anymore and the client hangs.
This also is discussed in note 307.
The IPMT case is UTO101410, but there couldn't reproduce the problem
    so far.....

    SEE IPMT FNO100146.

Yes, there is SMB readblkraw request. The difference to .0 is that we
are using PW 5.1 client. And we reproduced this problem also in our own
    network.
