307.0. "WFW copy prblm; readblkraw with file offset" by UTRTSC::FOLKER () Tue May 20 1997 10:42

Hello

Does anybody have experience with a copy from a NT 4.0 server with
Pathworks 32 to a WFW client unther the filemanager.
My experience is a hanging client.

Here the configuration of the client
Basic redir, native etherworks III driver, DECNET

Using the digital TCPIP stack instead of DECNET doesn't show the problem.
Using the enhanced redir instead of de basic redir with DECNET doesn't show
the problem either.

I have made several IRIS traces and came to following conclusion:
every time a READBLKRAW packet with a file offset was send to the server, the
server didn't respond to this packet and the client hang.

In the same configuration using a DOS copy doesn't show the problem. This
because a DOS copy use a command code 0A, Read request smb packet.

Does somebody have any idea about a solution ?
Is this a know problem with Pathworks 32 ?

Thanks in advance

307.1problem, submit an IPMTSPELNK::curlessTue May 20 1997 17:4512
This is not a known problem. On NT, DECnet is at the mercy of NT and it's TDI
interface for file server access... given that there are two possible problems

1) (simply) TDI is handing a request to DECnet, and we are not responding to
    it property (or possibly at all)
2) the request is never getting to DECnet from the TDI interface.

You problem is to write this issue up, complete with how to reproduce it
as an IPMT case, and submit it.

    error in note 307.0

    Also the enhanced redir has the problem, using the vredir of WFW
    doesn't show the problem.

307.4If WFWg without WFWg's network, not supportedSPELNK::curlessFri May 30 1997 11:347
You mean Enhanced Redirector running on Windows for Workgroups? This is
not a supported PATHWORKS configuration.

WFWg without it's network is NOT EQUIVALENT to Windows 3.1
