| Who mentioned LOGINN ? This is windows95 - far superior (huh?).
Anyway, I think the issue is because:
In PW32, the license requester stuff gets loaded in the 'runservices' entry
of the registry. Previously, it was loaded in SYSTEM.INI.
If you are being validated by the network, then there is a delay while the
system works out that it can get some/any network before it loads the stuff
thats in SYSTEM.DAT.
in the old days, SYSTEM.INI (even under W95) got its stuff loaded and
executed quickly, so there was no problem.
Am I close ? If so, can we have the old way back please ?

Very close.... close enough for discussion.
The simple answer is... no.

284.4 | Is it fixed in 7.0a ? | WOTVAX::oloras11.olo.dec.com::Sharkeya | WinPass - now free | Mon May 12 1997 05:46 | 13 |
| OK - lets discuss.
I have 7.0a on my laptop and when THAT requests a license, the username
prompt does not come up till its finished. However, my laptop does not do a
network validation.
So, is it fixed in 7.0a ? I do not have a 7.0a kit to try (I used one of
yours to install - remember?) - can I 'borrow' a kit from LANMGR to try?

No. No change has been made in this area.
