Just spoke to a customer who was a bit upset at the lack of a Mail-11 client in PW 32. He is migrating about 275 clients from NT 3.51 w/ PW V4.1B to NT 4.0 with PW 32. He uses the Mail-11 client to interface with a large community of VT-based VMSmail clients. I explained to him what I thought was the probable reasoning behind the elimination of the Mail-11 client (most customers using Win95 or NT have moved or are moving to a client/server based messaging system using a GUI-based mail client). I also gave him two alternative methods to continue doing Mail-11 from PW 32: - use the terminal emulator - use a POP3 client to access PMDF-MTA on the OpenVMS server However, he pressed me on whether it would be possible to run the Mail-11 client software from the PW V4.1B kit on a NT 4.0 system running PW 32. In other words, would it work? (he knows it's not supported). Thanks, Dave

Try it. Though the one from the V5.1 kit would work better, Jeff P.S. A beta migration tool and Transport provider will be available shortly (as soon as some fire fights are done). Stay tuned. |
