256.1 | It's all in the power. | KAOT01::M_GREEN | Mon Apr 28 1997 12:23 | 24
Jacques, sounds similar to a problem I ran into recently with the adjunct 3com 3c562 which upon installation of OSR2 stopped working for one of my customers. As it turned out, and was interesting to know, the OSR2 Modem PC card power management feature is not compatible with multifunction adapters (combo). The resolution was to disable the "Turn off PC Card modems when not in use" power feature. The steps as I recall was: 1. Remove PCMCIA device from the PC card socket 2. Restart computer. When you see "Starting Windows 95" message, press the F8 key, and choose Safe Mode from Startup menu. 3. In Control Panel, double click power. 4. On the PC Card Modem tab, click on "Turn off PC Card modem when not in use" check box to clear it. 5. Click OK 6. Shut down and then restart the computer normally. Hope this help mon ami. Bonne chance. Mike.
256.2 | PW32 support over OSR2 is the question | PRSSOS::GAUTIER | Tue Apr 29 1997 06:40 | 11
Thanks Mike for your quick answer, I've been working with Jacques on this problem. Before going into further investigation, I'd like to get an official answer from engineering : Is Pathworks 32 (and Pathworks for Win95 V1.0A) officially supported on OSR2 (the documentation only talks about WINNT4.0 and Win95). Best regards, Didier GAUTIER / France PCI Support group

Officially ... PATHWORKS for Windows 95 v1.0, or v1.0a would not support OSR2 as, OSR2 came out AFTER both of those shipped. PATWORKS 32 has not been tested with OSR2 to my knowledge. Jeff P.S. Life is going to get even more interesting with supporting NT/W95... as Microsoft has been shipping NEW SOFTWARE in their service updates... not just bug fixes... and the updates are going to be more and more related to new functionality, and less bug fixes. |
