Hello All,
I have read the notes about the 100% utilization issue and how some
customers have reported performance problems.
Not sure if this is related or totally separate. Customer has
Gateway 2000 P5 machines with EtherWORKS 3 Turbo adapters. When
running PowerTerm, users are experiencing "keyboard slowness".
These are not fast typists, he says, yet the "type ahead" is way
far ahead of the characters displaying on the screen. I hope
this is making sense. PowerTerm is running over LAT. This problem
is NOT evident with VT320, he says.
He also mentioned slowness with Lotus 123 and Word Perfect, but these
apps are not on the network, nor are the files saved to a network
drive, so I don't see how installing PW32 would slow down these apps.
(Of course, *customer* thinks so...)
As to the PowerTerm issue...is there any SET TERM parameter or any
PowerTerm setting we can look at? Any/all advice welcome...
Thanx,
Diane

Diane,
By any chance is your customer running any DOS apps? I just figured out
that if I run EDIT in a DOS box, my PowerTerm keyboard response
deteriorates to unusable levels. If I then get out of EDIT (but still
having the DOS box open), PowerTerm returns to normal. I just came
across this this afternoon so I'm not sure on the details, but it might
be something to check out.
bruce,
ps.. this is happening on NT only. My Windows95 session doesn't seem
to have this problem.

Not sure about the DOS sessions...
This customer has gone back to PW 1.0a since we seem to have isolated
his problem to the PW licensing agent. (When he removes PW licensing,
all works fine; when he re-adds it, same problem.) Since this seems
to be related to the 100% CPU utilization issue, which is fixed in
v7.0a, he is going to wait and try it again after 7.0a is released.
