| 206.1 | Enhanced redirector please ... | SIOG::FITZMAURICE |  | Fri Apr 04 1997 10:14 | 23 |

    The clients perhaps are running 4.1 as 4.2 does not exist also
    licenses are not the issue.

    To be blunt you should configure the clients for the enhanced
    redirector as this is what NT expects you to connect to file
    and print share with.

    When a USE is made to NT from an enhanced redirector client a
    username and password are transparently passed also. This is
    what NT expects and knows how to deal with.

    This is NOT the %username password you are familiar with the
    Digital basic redirector.

    Again you should use the enhanced redirector though there are
    ways to con NT into letting you have access which are discussed
    elsewhere in the PWDOS4 notes file.

| 206.3 | Client needs more than DECnet installed. | JAMIN::TELESETSKY |  | Mon Apr 07 1997 11:44 | 10 |
| | There is an outstanding issue with PW32 running on an NT server
    whereas, if the client is running -only- DECnet, the client will not
    be able to map to the PW32 NT server. The client needs to have
    an additional transport such as TCPIP or NETBEUI running or not
    even bound, but just installed. Engineering states that this is a
    Microsoft issue with TDI.

    Workaround :
     If you need to map shares from any client to a PW32 NT server, you must
    have more than just the DECnet transport installed on your client.

Not quite right.... the issue is NT v4.0 CANNOT run with DECnet only,
as the TDI interface never binds to DECnet... however adding NetBEUI,
TCP/IP or any other Mucrosoft written transport will enable TDI over
DECnet.
We are discussing this with Microsoft engineers, who ... haven't
figured it out yet either.
Again, this is not a client connectivity issue.

| 206.5 | Pathworks 4.1 client hangs on file copy | WOTVAX::MATTHEWS | SPS/SWS/SWAS/FS/CS/EIS/DS/NTCC/NETCC/MUPSC/AD&I | Wed May 14 1997 08:00 | 17 |
| | Can anyone help me with a pathworks 4.1 client accessing an NT 4
    pathworks32 server running DECnet? Using the enhanced re-director or
    basic redirector I have no problem at the DOS level using pathworks
    shares.

    If I use WIndows 3.1 or WFWG 3.11 I can see the NT DECnet shares and I
    can copy files from the PC to the NT system. However If I try and copy
    from the NT system to the PC the PC hangs in the copy and needs
    re-booting. On the NT the error message produced is

    "The server received an incorrectly formatted request from TEST41".

    If I perform the same file copy from DOS everything is OK.

    Any help would be appreciated.
