This is actually a rehash of notes 74 and 132 but there was no real solution so here it goes again: When upgrading from NT 3.51 and pathworks 4.1b (to NT 4.0 and pathworks 32) printing to an lps17 (network printserver) no longer works. Using the following setup; Add Printer->My Computer->Add Port->Digital Network Port(click twice on this)->DECnet (this is when the error below appears) and you can finish the setup but of course it does not work. The DECnet protocol is not currently available. You may configure the port for DECnet, but the port will not operate. Is this due to the new Winsock 2 complaint DECnet component and the checks for DECnet used by the Digital Network Port being done via some old method. Customer says they reported this in Field Test for Pathworks 32 and was told that nobody else had this problem and it was never fixed. I was able to reproduce here at the CSC and will be excalating if no response. Thanks in advance...

WIN95 has the same problem with pw/win95 v1.0/1.0a. I was told then is was a Microsoft problem since they provide the Printserver software with WIN95 and NT and it does not recognize that DECnet is installed. Nelson |
