192.0. "DECnet not installed error" by CSC32::J_FORREST (Jill Forrest) Fri Mar 28 1997 11:21

Hi,

I have a customer that has upgraded his NT Workstation v3.51 running
PATHWORKS for Windows NT v4.1B to WNT Workstation v4.0 and PATHWORKS 32.
When he ran the install he chose the option to delete v4.1B as the release
notes stated he should do. Now, when he tries to do anything in NCP,
he gets the following error:

	DECnet not installed
	Network error

A NCP>SHOW EXEC produces this error and nothing else. A NCP>LIST KNOWN NODES
produces this error, but does list the nodes. NFT also produces a similar
error that DECnet is not installed. We tried removing DECnet and
reinstalling, but the problem still persists.

The PATHWORKS Event Log is attached (I edited it slightly to make it more
readable), and as you can see, DECnet appears to be loading fine, and he is
getting his licenses. Does anyone know what could be causing this error?

Thanks,
Jill Forrest

192.1check the pathworks 32 directoryJAMIN::REICHLENFri Mar 28 1997 13:3714
Your customers installation is not quite correct. He can do one of 2
    things:
    	1.) Check the following things:
    		1. His autoexec.nt file contains the following line:
    			dnp16.exe
(I expect it is but check anyhow.)
    		2. Verify that dnp16.exe is in his *new* pathworks 32
directory (I expect it is) *and* the pathworks32
directory is in you path (this is most likely his
                    problem).
   	2.) Re-run the installation

    Diane,

Thanks!! I had the customer check the things you outlined, and he
found a PATH=C:\DECNET in his AUTOEXEC.NT file. He was pointing to his
old PATHWORKS for DOS v4.1 directory! After he removed that line he
    worked fine.

    Thanks again,
    Jill
