122.0. "error message with eXcursion and RSH" by LEMAN::FOUCHAULT (Vous ici ! Quelle bonne surprise...) Fri Feb 07 1997 14:18

    hello,

Sometimes with eXcursion I have the following error message :

    > The following error occured while attempting to start
    >'sys$system:decw$terminal' on brise over TCP/IP (rsh)
    >
    > Network routine connect() failed, error = EADDRINUSE

I have modify in UCX the RSH limit but the error still appears.

    what's wrong ????

    Thank you

    remi

I use "rexec" choice for TCP in excursion control panel (account tab) instead
of "rsh" and it works well.

Will this solve your problem ?

(I tried using "rsh" and it fails, probably because our vms host doesn't
have what we need in order to use it)

/Eric

Rsh use on VMS requires a bit of work. One must set up a UCX "proxy"
to grant users access from specific remote systems.

    Something like:

    UCX> ADD PROXY GHEFF /REMOTE_USER=GHEFF /HOST=GHEFFPC

The proxy name is GHEFF, the name of the user being allowed to connect
to this VMS system is GHEFF, and the PC that he's connecting from is
    GHEFFPC.

Once all that's done, rsh connections should work.

    Hi gary,

I set this proxy before I wrote this note. So, maybe my OpenVMS system
need some more tuning concerning this problem.

    I tried Eric's solution and it's working.

    Thank's again
