102.0. "PWPRINT" by VMSNET::W_FAMBER () Tue Jan 28 1997 12:20

    I have installed Digital Pathworks 32 Print Services for OpenVMS, the
    printer connection is to a Windows NT 4.0 system. I've added the queue
    into the PWPRINT$MANAGER database..

    PWPRINTMGR> sh queue pw32

    Queue Name               : PW32
    Node name or address : PCJAY
    Protocol                 : DECNET
    Connect type             : DIRECT
    Location or printer      : DECLASER
    Userid                   :            Password :
    Translation

    Testing queue errors with:

    PWPRINTMGR> test que pw32
    28-JAN-1997 12:03:53.51 %PWPRINT-I-PRLOCNAM, Print location :
    28-JAN-1997 12:03:53.51 PCJAY::"TASK=PWPRINT"
    28-JAN-1997 12:03:53.64 %PWPRINT-E-ASIGNERR, DECnet assign open error
    28-JAN-1997 12:03:53.64 %SYSTEM-F-REJECT, connect to network object
    rejected

    The Pathworks Event logger report:

    SPAW9999N	SPAWNER request from node 63.357 (Client)
    	"	Request from user:
        "	Request from node: 63.357 on socket 2
        "	Request on object: PWPRINT (0) with access privilege: -1
        "	Command |2012805620se2 -access - executed!
        "	CreateProcess failed: The system cannot find the file
                Specified.

    DECnet appears to function correctly with NFT between systems.

    Can anyone shine some light on this subject?

    Hi Wayne,

    >> Can anyone shine some light on this subject?

    Yes, by default PWPRINT will try to use TCP/IP. To make it use DECnet,
    change the registry key:
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\PWPrint\Parameters
    Transport to 1 (from 2)
    Reboot.
    That should do it...

    This change will be made possible via a properties page accessible via
    the Network Properties -> Services in a later FT release.

102.3Terminal emulation internal positioningNETRIX::"[email protected]"Jacques Hulaux (Omnia Vincit Humor)Fri Jan 31 1997 12:1130
   Hi folks,

We are currently working on upgrading a generic Win95 platform for wide
internal use.
Till now, we had a twofold strategy for terminal emulation to legacy systems :
- VT320 for free to anybody
- Keaterm for users/BU who can afford it.
(Of course, there is eXcursion, but it goes much further than a terminal
emulator and heavily relies on SW from the server side, namely: Motif &
DECTerm, so We consider it as an possible add-on but not as a variant).

Now it seems Powerterm will reconcile all BU & Users. I saw various references
in topics here to some internal or global license for this 3rd party little
jewel. Looking into the internal Web with Altavista for either PowerTerm or
Ericom didn't give me any official information about such license.
I also noticed that, if I consider topic #3 by its emptiness, there is nobody
in the driver seat right now ;-) ...
Then, can someone please give me a pointer to such official stuff or give me
the boss' coordinates.

Another, more technical question: What future is planned for the Win32 VT320
(shipping with Multias) between the current Win16 implementation and PowerTerm
?

Thanks in advance,

Jacques.

102.4Whoooops - I clicked on the wrong button ...NETRIX::"[email protected]"Jacques Hulaux (Omnia Vincit Humor)Fri Jan 31 1997 15:2912
Well, sorry, I am not yet that familiar with the Web<->Notes interface and I
realized there is no longer a way to remove a reply of your own
(Character-cell & Teamlinks interfaces were able to do this, but I guess I
took this for granted too early).

Can please any moderator delete this reply & .3 ? #106.0 is the correct entry
now ... I know, I'll owe him a (cyber) drink (coffee, beer ? ;-) )

Thanks again,
                                             Jacques.
