98.0. "Setup - Could Not Open Log File" by VMSNET::S_VORE (Smile - Mickey's Watching!) Mon Jan 27 1997 16:28

Running setup from today's pw32daily, select Network Connectivity. After
an interminable wait, sometimes I get an alert box

PATHWORKS 32 for Windows NT Setup
	  ^
/ ! \ Could not open log file
	-----
		[ OK ]

...but not always. Is this trying to open (as would make sense to me)
a file on my local system, into which it will be writing a log of
all the files/components installed (if so, where - I've never seen one
and one would really help) or somewhere on the server from which
I'm installing?

Sometimes the setup program proceeds without error, sometimes it
appears to die completely at that point and I have to go back to
Autorun's "network connectivity" again.

probably the same as QAR #1297

problem could be that you already have a copy of setup running.

possibly, considering how slowly things happen across the WAN and the lack
of feedback (hourglass, for example) that Autoplay gives when starting the
setup programs.

(found it; c:\pwsetup.log don't know if that's been mentioned before or not)

Autoplay has no ability to set the hour glass, as it calls the OS to
launch the program in question, and that returns very quickly, the load
of the process takes forever (about 5 minutes on a 14,400 line.)
