I have a customer who has the AFW on UNIX. On gatekeeper they are running smtpxd which I believe is the proxy which calls sendmail. They want to be able to handle multiple domain names both inbound and outbound. Sendmail v8 seems to be able to be the answer. I do not have any firewall experience and was hoping someone could help me answer the following: - Can I install sendmail v8 on their current firewall system (I believe they are running v2 of the firewall) or do I need to upgrade their entire system. - Where can I get a copy of sendmail v8 (is that on the UNIX v4 cd?) - If I modify the necessary sendmail v8 files will that work correctly with the proxy process or are there some parameters that have to change on the proxy side also. - Is there any documentation you can point me to that would help? Thank you in advance for your help. Maureen

Maureen, The smtpxd relay uses a sendmail.cf file which can be configured to process multiple domains. Read the O'Reilly TCP/IP books's chapter on sendmail to understand ruleset 0 and ruleset 8. Brad. | |||||

1964.3 | <defunc>s are still teree after issuing a pactch. | NNTPD::"[email protected]" | Arthur Lin | Fri May 23 1997 01:44 | 7 |
I have issued the smtp patch for a firewall case with AVFW for UNIX V2.0. I thought it should solve the <defunc> problem as described in the patch's readme file. But in fact, there are still some <defunc>s caused by smtpxd. Any solution for this ? (Another patch? or Uopgrade AVFW version?) -Arthur- [Posted by WWW Notes gateway] |
