Let's talk news one more time please. Firewall 97 Digital Unix My customer wants to have his local news server on the red network. Can a generic service be setup so that each client on the blue network can access the same news server on the red network on port 119 ? Whether or not this is smart or not is it possible to do ? Thanks in advance for your help. It seems to me that the "correct" method to setting this all up is to located your news server on the blue network and run the feed through the firewall, is this correct ? Does anyone know of an inexpensive news server software product which will work with NT to serve this purpose ?

App note 6 on v2.1 explained exactly how to do this. Presumably there's an explanation in v3 somewhere. There is no "correct" method. If you want to use a Windows NT news server, try looking for DNEWS. PJDM

That's because v3.0 has a many to one generic relay...

Found the answer in the security policies screen under the generic reply. Once I found the info it was straight forward. What through me was that app note 6 isn't in the trail kit. Regards, |
