1960.0. "FTP and Telnet Authenticated access questions" by ODIXIE::RREEVES () Fri May 16 1997 22:26
I was just exposed to the Altavista Firewall 97 product this week
on Digital Unix. (I have never seen the product prior to this week).
I have some simple questions.
Telnet and FTP Authenticated access from the internal network to the
outside world, how does this work?
1. I added a list of 5 users.
2. Enabled FTP service and selected "Authenticated puts and gets from
inside and no access from outside back into inside.
I assume that authenticated access is via the username and password
in the firewall what is the procedure and syntax to ftp through the
firewall ?
Assume i wanted to ftp to ftp.digital.com from the protected network
and the firewall node name was firewall
I tried "ftp [email protected]" , but I cannot figure out how to
get the firewall to authenticate me .
3. How does a user use authenticated telnet access as well ?
Any help would be appreciated.
Regards,
Ray
