1944.0. "How to support DNS for different domain names ext/int?" by LEMAN::BOTHNER (Tor Bothner (Office consultant, GEO)) Mon May 05 1997 17:51

    Hi,

how do you configure AVFWU 3.0 with DNS server, if there are different
    domain names externally and internally?

The DNS setup page asks for a domain name and a network
address/netmask. If I enter the internal domain name and network, name
resolution from the FW works, i.e. requests for internal
names/addresses go to the internal DNS server, and everything else goes
    to the external server, 127.0.0.1.

However, in this case the DNS server set up for external usage includes
the wrong domain name, the internal domain.

I have manually hacked /usr/dfws/named.red/named.boot to reflect the
domain name I want to serve externally, and to serve reverse lookups,
but it cannot be meant to be like that.

Can someone please explain to me how to use the GUI to configure such a
configuration, with two domain names, and the FW being primary server
    for the external domain?

    thanks,

Hello,

Which 3.0 kit do you have installed? I am sure that this works fine with the
field test kit that was created somewhere around the 21-apr. I have seen the
same problem with the kit from 11th april.

1944.3External eval kitLEMAN::BOTHNERTor Bothner (Office consultant, GEO)Tue May 06 1997 19:027
    re .1

This is the eval kit downloaded by the customer from the External Web
site. i don't know when he did it, or how to check for kit version, but
I expect it should be an official kit.
