1943.0. "Shutdown of AvFWU 3.0 and reload of WWW ACLs" by LEMAN::BOTHNER (Tor Bothner (Office consultant, GEO)) Mon May 05 1997 17:49

I have two problems with AWFU 3.0:

    1. When editing a group used in the ACL of the WWW proxy, how do I get
wwwproxy to reload its data? The only way I find to do it with the GUI,
is to add/delete a dummy rule for the WWW service, which is highly
    non-intuitive and impractical.

Restarting the FW or disabling/enabling the WWW service doesn't help
    either.

Otherwise, I do a kill -1 of the wwwproxy, but this probably isn't the
    recommended way either.

    2. The FW shutdown command from the GUI seems to work fine, but the FW
is still fully functional after such a shutdown. WWW requests continue
to go through without problem, and all the proxy daemons seem to stay.

Disabling of individual serverices work, and also disabling of the
    whole FW (via alarms.)

    thanks,
    --tor

I strongly suspect that kill -HUP *is* the recommended way of getting the proxy
to reload its config.

It used to be so in 2.1 but if 3.0 has this user-grouping feature and it
does not do the kill -1 by it self it is A BUG
