1922.0. "ALtaVista Tunnel/Firewall 97" by SNOFS1::IPSSG_FL () Fri Apr 18 1997 02:45

From the AltaVista web pages, I understand that the Tunnel 97 would be
on the market sometimes in Apr.

Now we are in April and I just wonder if anyone can tell me whether it
is ready for customers or not. For instance, I have got the following
part numbers which I thought they were referring to the Tunnel 96 but I'd
been told by some Sales that the Tunnel 97 is using the same part
    numbers ???

    	QB-4W1AA-SD	AltaVista Tunnel-Workgroup-XL Edition International
for Digital UNIX License/CD, SPD (56.13)

QB-4W1AC-SB	AV Tunnel Starter Kit for NT includes AV Tunnel
Workgroup for NT, License & CD and 10 AV Tunnel
Personal Client license & floppies SPD (56.13)

IN addition, I am also trying to look for the part number of Firewall
97 and just wonder whether QB-4F9AA-SD ( SPD 64.21 ) is the right one.

    Thanks in advamce !!

WRT SPDs, please note that AV does not use SPDs. This is a
Digital concept. Therefore, the SPD you quote is not the
right one to use.

Now this leads to a question about the "official" statement
of functionality. Where is it? I don't actually believe
such a thing exists.

    >The FCS date is 5/5. You can then place an order for the version upgrade
    >that is priced at 35% of the full kit price.

Questions on AltaVista Firewall 97/Unix and Tunnel:

    1) Can Firewall be a Group Tunnel Server and still support
Remote Management ? Is this a reasonble configuration or
should Tunnel Server be on another system ?

    2) Assuming above is viable, will installation of the Group
Tunnel Software on the Firewall system recognize the existance
of the tunnel bits installed with the Firewall and not disturb
the existing remote management tunnel config data ?

    3) Any thought about bundling one WIN95 Tunnel Client with Firewall 97
       - customers will want it and many sales people will forget to
         include it on the order
