Hi, I'd like to know if it's possible to run the altavista firewall on a server (like a DEC3000/900) with no graphical board. When the system boots it starts the alarmd daemon... and gives the following error message: pid:/usr/dfws/etc/alarmd: /sbin/loader : fatal error : cannot map libX11.so As the process is of respawn type, a login is no more possible ... so in single user mode I removed the last line in /etc/inittab. Is the firewall running if this process isn't ? I exported the display on a VXT200 and ran netscape but it couldn't connect to localhost:8314 as needed. Is it due to to what I mentionned earlier or just that the firewall is running but prohibits such X communication ? Could someone help me? Thanks a lot. [Posted by WWW Notes gateway]

We did this a number of months ago. We installed the AltaVista Firewall for Digital UNIX on a AlphaStation, however, to configure and manage the system we logged in and set a remote display back to a DEC 3000 Model 500. From the DEC 3000 we were able to do everything. I assume that even if we had a PC running eXcursion or some other similar X Server we could have achieved the same results. You must be doing something incorrect. Regards, |
