1849.0. "NT firewall" by DEKVC::HUNJAELEE () Sat Mar 08 1997 20:24

I'm testing AltaVista Firewall for NT. The env. are

    Pentium 75Mhz
    Memory 64MB
    NT 4.0

I found that the HTTP proxy is very slow, don't know why. Other proxy
services (FTP, TELNET) are well running. Further more, I have some
    questions.

    1. Is there no other way to enter inside Firewall network except SNK
HHA? I know more than one way are in the UNIX version --reusable
    password ...

    2. Are inside users able to connect News Server outside firewall?

    3. Are outside users able to connect Web Serve inside firewall?

Thank in advance for any comments

That's not exactly the speediest processor ;-) Ironically, this month's issue

of Back Office commended the speed of the firewall, including the web proxy.
If the other proxies are connecting quickly (i.e. able to resolve names) and
entering an ip address based URL takes just as long, then you might play with
caching to see if that has an impact.

No, but domain authentication is coming in 3.0

    2. Are inside users able to connect News Server outside firewall?

yes, set up a generic proxy.

    3. Are outside users able to connect Web Serve inside firewall?

You really should not try to do this, as it allows external access to your
internal network. Put it on your red side if you can.
