Hi, any ideas, how to setup a connection automaticly with a PC Tunnel Client to a Tunnel Server ? The user should not give a password or so... Just encryption is important! It would be good deal. We could sell probably 2000 clients and up to 10 server (it is a Digital minded customer :-). Thanx torsten [Posted by WWW Notes gateway]

This is described in section 8.4.1 in the tunnel installation guide. From the manual: "You can set up your PC tunnel client to use a command line, script, or batch file to automatically start a tunnel connection. If you use this technique, the tunnel is started in a minimized window, and the AltaVista Tunnel icon is displayed as a button on the taskbar. The command format to use is: etunnel etaFilePathname [/p "Your TunnelPassword"] where etaFilePathname is the pathname to the .eta file for the tunnel you want to start and the /p YourTunnelPassword is your password for the tunnel. If you do not suply the optional password, the AltaVista Tunnel password prompt dialog box appears prior to initiating the tunnel connection. You can then enter your password to start the tunnel connection." | |||||

Remember to tell the customer the obvious security implications here. If I get access to your PC, I have an unencumbered path to your network... |
