1825.0. "connection reset by peer" by MANM01::CIMAFRANCA () Mon Mar 03 1997 04:06
This is for a customer running the oh-so ancient firewall, Digital
Firewall for Unix V1.0. The firewall is rejecting incoming mail from
certain sites, a sample transaction from a remote site (sending to the
internal mail hub) of which I am reproducing below:
# mailx -v [email protected]
Subject: testing ...
asdf
asdf
.
EOT
# [email protected]... Connecting to gateway.isp.com. (ddn)...
221 unknown peer host
>>> HELO sender.com
[email protected]: Connection reset by peer during client
HELO with gateway.isp.com
The mail is stuck in the mail queue after which it times out and
bounces back to the sender.
I have already installed the smtpxd patch for DFWU v1.0 and I am
allowing fake hostnames to pass. Any ideas what is causing this
problem?
Appreciate any help. Thanks in advance.
