1796.0. "how to redirect postmaster on AFW NT V1.1 ?" by LUX06::GLOESENER () Fri Feb 14 1997 09:46

Hi,

could anyone tell me how to redirect postmaster of windows NT to any other
user.

Background:

	AV Firwall for NT V1.1 AXP
	WindowsNT 4.0 SP 2 AXP

	All reports are send to postmaster by default by default,
	and the postmaster is defined to be [email protected] .
	If I try to change that in the Network tab of the Firewall
	configuration tool (DNS defaults) it will be reset after I
	leave and reenter the network configuration. So how do I mange
	to redirect the postmaster to some other account ?

Thanks,
Gast

The DNS page should only be used as a last resort to modify dns data. It
use is intended more for inspection, once the dns has been set up. The
reason is that at this time, the dns data is created from various sources
when you select the Ok or apply button. The postmaster is one record which
cannot be read from existing sources, as it is used in a couple of places
(DNS SOA records and the reports redirection address).

If all you want to do is modify where your reports are, you can do so on the
reports page.

1796.3No other way ?LUX06::GLOESENERSat Feb 15 1997 10:428
    Of course I can change the reports page for all reports, but since all
    are by default redirected to postmaster (reports & alram mails) I (and
    the customer) want only to redirect those mails instead of changing all
    reports and alarms.

    I have tried this using AVmailAdmin but I did not succeed.

Gast,

Sorry! At this time there is no other way to do this. It is a problem we're
aware of though, and hopefully will be able to get this into a future release.
