1779.0. "kernel rebuild failure: Undefined ipcheckredirects" by PANTER::MARTIN (Be vigilant...) Thu Feb 06 1997 11:17

Customer has a problem rebuilding the kernel after changing
the maxuser parameter into kernel's config file.

The kernel rebuild fail with the following error message:

    >rm -f vmunix vmunix.sys
    >loading vmunix.sys
    >ld:
    >Error: Undefined:
    >ipchkredirects
    >ipfirewall
    >ip_forwardscreen
    >*** Exit 1 (ignored)
    >chmod 755 a.out
    >chmod: a.out: No such file or directory
    >*** Exit 4
    >Stop.

The customer says that she hasn't changed anything else, I personnaly
    do not beleive that !!!

Can anyone tell me where are the "ipchkredirects" "ipfirewall"
    "ip_forwardscreen" part of (I don't have a DFWU machine around) ?

Does a kernel option is missing in the kernel config file ?

    Thanks for your suggestions,

1779.1kernel rebuild failure:GALVIA::KEATINGFri Feb 07 1997 04:537
Customer has done something very strange here.
For some reason, ip_input.o is causing problems.

Was there a patch installed, or was the file deleted?

Sarah
1779.2Yes, DFWU_V20_smtpxd_patch.sh patch !PANTER::MARTINBe vigilant...Wed Feb 19 1997 10:3623
    Thanks for your answer Sarah.

Sorry to be so late to update this case, but I'm just back
    from holliday.

Yes, the DFWU_V20_smtpxd_patch.sh one, but I looked at it
and it just seems to change /usr/dfws/etc/smtpxd !!!

No kernel rebuild were done on the system since this patch
was applied (6 monthes ago), so the customer think the problem
comes from here, but I personnaly doubt that the problems are
    related...

I have no Firewall machine to try the patch on, has someone
already encountred the same kind of problem after installing
    DFWU_V20_smtpxd_patch.sh ?

    Cheers,
