To repeat .0:

Will there be a transparent POP3 proxy in AVFW for UNIX V3 ?

or more generically, generic transparent proxies?

Juniper (http://www.obtuse.com/juniper/) does it.

Black Hole (http://www.milkyway.com/libr/blacdet.html) does it.

Gauntlet (http://www.tis.com/docs/products/gauntlet/tech7.html, section 7.14)
implies that it does it.

The AltaVista Firewall97 page says it does packet filtering, application level,
and circuit level, whatever that means, but gives no indication of transparency.

(Is transparent proxying the same as circuit level packet filtering? If so, what
is application level packet filtering? Given that the UNIX firewall does packet
filtering and the Windows NT firewall doesn't, yet they both do circuit level
and application level, I'm confused. What do packet filtering, application
level, and circuit level mean? Why do people spend more time making their Web
site look nice than producing sensible information?)
