Used driver version 4.1-09
and did the modification in registry.
Works fine now.

408.10 | Reproducer & fix | OSLLAV::JENSH | Jens Holwech, SBU Workstation Sales Support, Norway (DTN 872-8543) | Tue Feb 25 1997 06:11 | 48 |
| For regression testing purposes:
The attached trailfile easily demonstrates this(?) problem,
using Pro/E 17 9647, NT 4.0 SP 1, AccelPRO 2000. I have
installed the 4.1.10 Field Test driver, and the problem
appears to be fixed. The customer also tried the 4.2 driver
found on Accelgraphics' web. The 4.2 driver hangs the system
when running this trailfile.
Regards,
Jens

408.11 | Where can I get 4.1.10? | UNITED::GOODMAN | Digital Systems Technical Support | Wed Apr 09 1997 11:40 | 22 |
| I was called yesterday to a customer who has 4 PWS 433a and after
installing proe, three out of the four showed the problem identified
in .0
During three days of checking HAL, OS, Hardware, BIOS etc. one of the
'broken' systems started to work properly. (the bad news is that the
customer has not got a clue what he did to fix the problem!!)
We have used the latest FT version of the driver off service.digital,
we have installed SP1 and SP2 and we cannot fix the problem. Moving
a card does not move the problem. The machines are all configured the
same way and are of a similar manufacture date.
The hang is easily reproduced and repeatable, almost down the pixels
being drawn. The current fix being suggested is to put in PowerStorm
cards which have shown to work, but as they have 35 systems in store it
could cost Digital lots of money.
Any help would really be appreciated.
Regards,
David

4.1.10 driver is available from the www.service.digital.com/AccelPROft
site.
There's also 4.2 which contains some Softimage fixes....

You'll get better support in the ALPHASTATION conference.
There are actually some hardware bugs in the AccelPro cards
themselves (actually in the GLint chip itself!).
Miata engineering has made some changes to HAL/AlphaBIOS recently
to help AccelGraphics work around the problem.
You can find the latest Miata HAL/Firmware stuff at
http://beer.eng.pko.dec.com/pub/miatamfg
The version of AlphaBios there is 5.29. Not sure of the HAL/POST
version numbers, but they should be the latest.

408.15 | I've found a fix that works for me | UNITED::GOODMAN | Digital Systems Technical Support | Thu Apr 17 1997 07:36 | 10 |
| Yesterday, having spent considerable time reinstalling everything from
the HAL upwards, I finally fixed the problem of Pro/E hanging the PWS.
I installed the AccelPro Driver 4.1.10 and the problem disappeared
immediately. I am now waiting confirmation of this fixing the systems
out on customer site. (see 408.back_a_few)
Regards.

408.16 | So far, so good | UNITED::GOODMAN | Digital Systems Technical Support | Wed Apr 23 1997 08:20 | 12 |
| Re .-1, the use of AccelPro Driver 4.1.10 has fixed the problem on the
customers machines.
However, I now see that Rel 18 is now qualified on AccelPro, NT4, PWSa.
Is there any way we can find out what version of the AccelPro driver
was used by PTC. I currently have a happy customer but if he finds a
problem which points to the card or driver the instant reply will be
"are you on the latest driver?".

David

I'm 100% positive the 4.1.10 driver was used for certification
on Alpha's.
