Ross Email Address: [email protected] CPU Architecture: Alpha Version: V 6.2 Questions: Is it possible to connect an AlphaStation to a Win 95 PC DIRECTLY via a TP or ThinWire coaxial cable, so they would form a fully functional 2-computer network? What I mean is, will such simple "network" function without an Ethernet "hub" or "repeater"? Both the Alpha and the PC have a good 10/Base-T Ethernet controllers, the Alpha has a Pathworks 5.0D Server, and the PC - Pathworks for Win 95 client licenses. Thank you.

Yes, one can place a thinwire T ("T") on the BNC connector on each of the two systems, one can connect a 50 ohm thinwire terminator ("<" and ">") to one arm of the T connector on each system, and one can then connect a section of coax cable between the remaining open arms on the two T connectors. <-T----------T-> | | OpenVMS Win95 One usually needs a hub ("*"), repeater, or other method of connecting twisted-pair networks together -- some twisted-pair controllers do include the ability to daisy-chain, but this capability is not particularly widespread.
