Dear Wizard

Is it possible to SCSI cluster two DEC 3000 Model 300 workstations together
with an RA450 RAID subsystem? My thought is to use KZTSA adapters in the DEC
3000's so I can get a fast wide differential connection to the RA450. If this
is possible what is th
e minimum revision of VMS I need to support this configuration? I am
currently running 6.2 but can't upgrade to version 7.0 or higher because of
support issues with the applications I am using.

Also is it possible to use a SCSI clustered configuration like the one above
to serve as the boot node for satellite VMS workstations in a different
cluster and connected to the SCSI cluster machines via an ethernet LAN?

Thanks

For VMScluster operations over SCSI, you will need OpenVMS Alpha V6.2-1H3,
or V7.1, or later. (For additional information, see a previous Wizard
   question at http://www.openvms.digital.com/wizard/group4/416.html.)
Note: V6.2-1H3 supercedes V6.2-1H2, and contains additional hardware
   and configuration support.

OpenVMS can download most any network device, but the VMScluster download
and bootstrap sequence expects the boot- and disk-servers to be members
of the same VMScluster as the satellite(s) being downloaded and served.
(The download of the software for the satellite is from the bootserver,
and the downloaded satellite expects to continue operations from the
same system disk the download was initiallly performed from.)
