Questions:

When dealing with the Mail Utility, is appears that several people on our system
have more external mail files in their accounts than can be referenced in the
mail file(s). Is there any way to delete these extra external mail files - and
do you have idea
what might cause this problem?

1737.1Mail uses multiple files...XDELTA::HOFFMANSteve, OpenVMS EngineeringMon Apr 28 1997 12:029
   MAIL keeps messages larger than three blocks (or so) in seperate files;
   smaller messages are kept in the MAIL.MAI data file.

   Use the MAIL> SET MAIL_DIRECTORY command to relocate all mail-related
   files into the specified subdirectory -- this tends to keep all mail
   files out of site, and this tends to prevent mail messages from being
   erroneously deleted.
