Unfortunatly I'm new to OpenVMS and I lack documentation. When unable to run the Telnet (or any other TCP/IP) application I ran the stop/start util. Now they can be run. What are the additional configuration steps to look for? I am unable to ping any of the addresses enumerated using SHOW HOST from a PC on the network. TIA Les

1725.1 | You Will Need Product Documentation... | XDELTA::HOFFMAN | Steve, OpenVMS Engineering | Mon Apr 28 1997 11:32 | 17 |
Your question is anything but simple. You will need access to the documentation for OpenVMS, and for the particular TCP/IP package installed on the system. With DIGITAL's UCX package (DIGITAL TCP/IP Services for OpenVMS), the configuration tool is @SYS$STARTUP:UCX$CONFIG. Once UCX is configured, you will need to configure a DNS server, or you will need to enter host names in the local static database -- once you have host names, ping commands should operate as expected, or you will want to investigate a hardware, wiring, or network configuration problem. Without information on the particular package, and on what tool(s) you mean by the "start/stop util", it is very difficult to answer your question. |
