   One could use LAT -- LAT was optimized for on-LAN operations.

   Once the connection is established, I would expect LAT and TCP would
   have relatively similar performance.

   As for speeding an IP connection, further information on the product
   and on the system would be required.  Also on the local DNS network,
   and on any routers or other network devices that might be involved.
