With the Year 2000 approaching we must decide wether to convert this application which uses two digit year fields. I know that this version of VMS and the hardware is certified for the year 2000. My application is frozen on 5.5-2H4 and VAX hardware. My question is what is Digital's policy on VMS support for 5.5-2H4? How long will I be able to get support on the operating system? How long will I be able to get support and parts for the VAX 4600A? If we can get answers to these questions we can decide wether to make the necessary software changes or replace the software. Estimated cost to replace this software is around $1 million dollars. We need answers to the above questions to make the right decision.

Please see the formal "Year 2000" statements at the OpenVMS home page. Please check with your local DIGITAL representative for information on "prior version support" software contracts. I am not aware of the announcement by DIGITAL of certification for any VAX or Alpha systems, nor for any OpenVMS release(s), for Year 2000 compliance. (Please see the formal "Year 2000" statements at the OpenVMS home page for further information on this topic.) Service for "older" platforms is available from DIGITAL for various hardware configurations -- for specific availability and support, please contact your local DIGITAL service office directly. |
