PRE-SALES QUESTION ...

Currently have a MicroVAX ][ running OpenVMS/Vax 6.0. We have compiled programs on it using Fortran v5.2-33 (Regis and HPGL libraries). These executables serve VT340 clients on PCs and HPGL printers. The VAX is now 15 years old and were looking to move
 to a new architechure.

Previouly, my company tried porting the programs to the PC, but the Regis libraries cannot be easily replaced. We're looking at a OpenVMS/Alpha solution and I'm wondering exactly what software packages will I need. Specifically:

- Should we stick with OpenVMS 6.x (6.2 IH3) on the Alpha?
- What networking package should I get:
   - NAS Client 150 or Base 200 -- will NAS150 allow our programs to serve VT340 clients? (I don't need NFS, just FTP and telnet services).
   - What's the difference between "Digital TCP/IP Services" and the "NASxxx" packages in the network services part (I know NAS comes with X-Windows, etc..., in addition)
- I've heard Digital Fortran v7.0 supports Fortran 66, 77 and 90; does it have the older Regis libaries we used with Fortran v5.2-33 as well as HPGL support?

Thanx in advance ...

We would recommend using the latest release, V7.1.

The NASxxx packages are not products - they are groups of licenses which
enable other products. Digital TCP/IP Services, also known as UCX, is enabled
by the NAS 150 license and it would allow terminal access by Telnet (and FTP).
The VT340 terminals would need to be attached to some networked system to
allow Telnet access.

For information on what is enabled with the various NAS packages, please see
their Software Product Descriptions at:

Digital Fortran does not include, and never has included, any Regis or other
graphics libraries. These were always separate products. If you have the
libraries in source form, they should work fine with Digital Fortran (which is
now at V7.1.)
