Questions:
Using the search dcl command. How do you search for strings
with quotes (") in them. For example I can do a file search
on the string "<pub uid="", but when I go to search for the
following "<pub uid="L." it doen't find a match. Is there
some easier way to search for string with quotes in them?

Examples of commands using quoted strings that contain quotes include:
$ SEARCH file.txt "<pub uid="""
$ SEARCH file.txt "<pub uid=""L."
In other words, a signle quote character <"> in a quoted string is
represented by a pair <"">
Please see the OpenVMS User's Guide (see "Quotation Marks in the index
of the V6.2 edition) for further information on how to incorporate the
<"> character into a quoted string -- it is possible that multiple
characters need be specified, depending on the context.
