Questions:

Customer is upgrading from VMS 5.1 on a MicroVAX 3500 to Open
VMS 7.1 on an AlphaServer 4100 (we hope). His questions:
1. Will VMS 5.1 TEXT libraries work with the Alpha?
2. Are VAX/VMS 5.1 RMS Indexed files usable on the Alpha?

Customer has written a LOT of applications under COBOL
(this is not MY idea of a fun time), if that provides any
clues as to why he might ask such questions...

HELP!!

Yes, I looked thru the FAQ's, didn't see anything that
seemed even vaguely relevant, forgive me if I missed something
obvious...

You asked:

>VMS 7.1 on an AlphaServer 4100 (we hope). His questions:
>1. Will VMS 5.1 TEXT libraries work with the Alpha?

The answer to both questions is "Yes". There is complete interoperability at
the file level between OpenVMS VAX and OpenVMS Alpha.
