Questions:

i recently purchased a TZ87 tape drive, with the ability to backup up to 20 GB in 1 hour.
However, using the OpenVMS backup command, my backups are very slow: about 1 hour per each 2 GB.
Is there a way to enhance this? I defragmented the disks, already.
How can i get the 20 GB backed up in an hour aprox?

Check the throughput on the SCSI bus in use, on the host system,
and on the disk in use. It is quite possible that one or more of
these are limiting the ability to write data to the tape.

Check the documentation for information on suggested quotas for
the BACKUP username, and make sure the host does not become
starved for paged and non-paged pool.

Also check the particular qualifiers used on BACKUP. If this is
a system disk, consider using /NOALIAS. Also consider increasing
   the data transfer size values.
