:I have a alphaserver 1000a 5/400, I cannot boot from
:the v7.0 cd-rom. Why???

OpenVMS Alpha V7.0 is older than the OpenVMS Alpha V6.2-1Hx series,
the hardware releases that first supported this and other recent
   systems and configurations.

This is somewhat counter-intuitive, but was a deliberate decision
intended to allow V6.x customers -- customers that could not move
to the OpenVMS Alpha V7.0 release immediately -- to acquire and
use the new hardware and new configurations.

The OpenVMS Alpha V7.1 release includes support for all systems and
configurations first supported by the OpenVMS Alpha V6.2-1Hx series.

Information on OpenVMS upgrade paths is being incorporated into the
OpenVMS Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) monthly posting.

:Also when will v7.1 be available.

The OpenVMS V7.1 release is presently available and shipping.
