Disaster Recovery is proving to be a problem since we have to have the same number of systems at the D/R site because the application allows Users to create their own Usernames. Hence it is not possible to concatenate these systems down on to say one large VAX and one large Alpha because there are Username duplications. Is it possible to make the SYSUAF,RIGHTSLIST etc files network wide so that their is only one. Currently each cluster or stand-alone system has it's own which causes the problems of duplications when we merge them. Thanx in advance. Phil

1565.1 | VMScluster Supports 150 Miles, Given Bandwidth | XDELTA::HOFFMAN | Steve, OpenVMS Engineering | Tue Feb 11 1997 14:01 | 13 |
It is possible to operate a single VMScluster over relatively long distances -- the current supported limit is 150 miles. One can use a standard VMScluster, or one can use the features added to the standard VMScluster in the BRS VMScluster services package. If one cannot share the authorization files via a VMScluster, the procedures (either in DCL, programs, or administrative steps) must be put in place to synchronize account creation. External Authentication is supported for use with LANMANAGER, but an OpenVMS-to-OpenVMS authenticator is not currently available from Digital. Third-party packages may be available. |
