This means that if a user changes his password on cluster 1 the new password would be automatically propogated to cluster's 2 and 3. We ha ve found 2 3rd party products that do this (Superpassword from Raxco and AuditPlus from Braintree technologies). The problem I have with these products is that they are very expensive to justify the expenditure. I thought, I read somewhere that there mayb e a VMS shareware utility that performs this function. Any advice you can give me would be greatly appreciated.

Are these systems sufficiently closely connected to be clustered together? With sufficiently fast lines and low latencies, these VMScluster configurations can be configured into a single larger VMScluster. There are presently no packages available from Digital to synchronize passwords among distinct VMSclusters, though there is work on external authentication being integrated into OpenVMS. (Recent versions of OpenVMS can synchronize with LANMANAGER passwords.) Be aware that the ability to change a password remotely can cause large security risks if the software is not designed, implemented, and tested completely and correctly. |
