Questions:

I am attempting to ftp some files (both ascii and binary)
on to our 4100 from an non VMS machine, but the block size
difference is not letting me execute the files once they
reside on the alpha. I think that I can fix them by
doing a copy /overlay but am unsure of the syntax. Am I
on the right path here, or do I need to be trying another
method?

Thanks,

1509.1Consistent Use Of Binary, Or Use Container...XDELTA::HOFFMANSteve, OpenVMS EngineeringMon Feb 10 1997 17:4711
Binary files for non-OpenVMS platforms cannot be directly executed
   under OpenVMS.

OpenVMS images can be transfered via UCX FTP, using binary transfer
   mode.

If unsure of how to transfer OpenVMS images from one OpenVMS platform
to another via a non-OpenVMS platform, consider using an OpenVMS tool
such as ZIP or BACKUP to create a container file, and to restore the
original file attributes on the target system.
