Alves Email Address: [email protected] CPU Architecture: VAX Version: v 6.2 Questions: I have a VAXstation 4000 Model 90, running VMS 6.2. I added memory to it from other VAXstations, so when it boots and checks the memory it says it has 80 MB or RAM. But once OpenVMS boots and I do a "show memory" it says "Main Memory (32.00Mb)". Do I have to do anything to have it see the full 80MB? Second question. I also have an HP Laserjet 4, are there any good (smart) print drivers for this? I currently just have it hooked up on the serial line, I also have a PC with a parallel connection to it. The printer automatically handles receiving input from its serial or parallel port.

:I have a VAXstation 4000 Model 90, running VMS 6.2. : :I added memory to it from other VAXstations, :so when it boots and checks the memory it says it :has 80 MB or RAM. But once OpenVMS boots and I do a :"show memory" it says "Main Memory (32.00Mb)". :Do I have to do anything to have it see the full 80MB? Check to see if something has set the SYSGEN parameter PHYSICALPAGES to a value that's low in SYSGEN and/or in SYS$SYSTEM:MODPARAMS.DAT, and re-AUTOGEN the system and reboot. Contact your hardware support organization for assistance with any problems with the memory itself. :Second question. : :I also have an HP Laserjet 4, are there any good (smart) :print drivers for this? I currently just have it hooked :up on the serial line, I also have a PC with a parallel :connection to it. The printer automatically handles :receiving input from its serial or parallel port. If it looks like a ASCII serial device that supports ANSI escape sequences and XON/XOFF flow control, OpenVMS includes the necessary serial drivers. (Contact HP for any assistance -- this device is not formally supported by Digital nor OpenVMS.) For HP printers with Postscript, see the Digital DCPS package, specifically the DCPS-Open package. |
