I'm sure this information is in here, but I'm having trouble locating it... A bunch of conferences are going away (again) and so I am looking into a way to host one or more of them. I don't have a VMS workstation anymore, so NetNotes popped into my head. Is NetNotes Server software available internally? For free? jeb

Yes, but. I found a copy of it in the DECwest repository referenced herein somewhere, but upon installing it found that it wanted a key; the key generator that was available for in-DEC use (which I found a copy of courtesy Paul Winalski) creates keys that are already expired. So the trick would be finding a source for a valid key.

Hmmm. I infer from its conspicious abscence that names of folks who might provide such a thing are difficult to come by. does the company that was making this product still exist at all? I see Steve Cloutier's name on a lot of the early notes. Any clue where he went? jeb

I believe Ostech was bought up by Spyglass. No reference to Webnotes or NetNotes anywhere in their current website, though, aside from a defunct pointer in ftp.ostech.com/kits/. No idea what happened to Steve Cloutier. |
