203.0. "How does it know what I've read?" by 45862::HILTON (Save Water, drink beer) Thu Apr 24 1997 06:20

    Does netnotes keep a record of what you've read on the notebook.note
    file?

    I'm trying to keep a desktop and laptop synced.

Sure it does, otherwise you couldn't do "Next unread". Carry your
notebook.not with you on a floppy (possibly zipped, this thing
keeps growing and never shrinks) or use Windows 95 briefcase et
voil. I do it all the time.

203.2Briefcase question!45862::blyth.lzo.dec.com::hiltong[email protected]Thu Apr 24 1997 10:566
Vince,

Do you create a shortcut into the briefcase, and sync shortcuts, or
physically have the notebook in the briefcase?

203.4Put the notebook file in a file server?SMURF::PBECKWho put the bop in the hale-de-bop-de-bop?Thu Apr 24 1997 23:598
    Since you've got to be online to use NetNotes, I think the best
    approach would be to store the notebook file on a file share
    somewhere (e.g. on a Pathworks server or in your Exchange file
    area), and point the setup of both your desk and notebook NetNotes
    to that directory. Then both systems will automatically be in synch
    because they're both storing their info in the same place.

203.5use FDL on VMS to restructure notebook fileOGBON::t2.tunnel.sno.dec.com::gordonDes Gordon@snoFri Apr 25 1997 03:526
g'day,

You can also use fdl on vms to restructure the notebook file from
time to time and reduce its size considerably.

How do you define where notebook.note sits?

	I tried that..... it looks like it wants to work and all, but then it
comes up with an error. If it can't find a node, does it not put any of them
in?
