199.0. "Can't access *some* notesfiles!" by 26031::16.72.96.20::fulton (Other Vehicle=Federation Starship) Thu Apr 10 1997 19:59

I have set up netnotes on my WOW laptop since I will soon be without VAX
access. I managed to get my notebook copied and all of that, but now I
find that some notesfiles can't be accessed reliably and it seems to be
related to a specific VMS node.

Specifically, notes files on node NOTED seem to fail after they have been
accessed the first time. After I set up netnotes, I accessed both the
WIN95 and IBMPC notesfiles everything seemed to be fine. Now when I try to
open either one, it opens to the point where I see the greeting message at
the bottom (On IBMPC it says something about taking Windows issues to the
windows conference) then I get the little box at the lower right with the
cancel button and the spinning disk which will apparently spin as long as I
care to let it. I tried adding the IBMPC file to the notebook with a
different name. It worked the first time, but after that it behaved the
same way.  any suggestions?

Thanks!

Ken

199.2Direct TCP/IP and routed DECnet access45862::blyth.lzo.dec.com::hiltong[email protected]Fri Apr 25 1997 11:044
Can you set up netnotes so it uses the route thru' node to access conferences over DECnet,
but uses TCP/IP 'direct' if you enter a TCP/IP address?

That's easy, for example:
	Node:	turris.zko.dec.com
	Conf:	isvnet::netnotes
199.4Can you select when to use route thru????45862::lzodhcp-182-48-148.lzo.dec.com::hiltong[email protected]Tue Apr 29 1997 12:2511
re .3

Not sure if that works.

I set up access to the Digital notes conf as over TCP/IP, but it then
opens [email protected]@wotvax.reo.dec.com

ie it still uses my route thru node, is there a way to tell it not to
use the route thru node for access to TCP/IP notes conferences?

RE: .4

I think route-through is all-or-nothing.
