198.0. "I'm Confused" by WMOIS::NILSEN () Fri Apr 04 1997 14:24

        Hi, I'm trying to use WIN-95 and NETNOTES to read the notes files.
    I'm a little confused about what to put in the blank lines.

    I loaded netnotes and can see the note book. I can add conferences
    but not access them. I will loosing my Vax account soon and would like
    to have netnotes up and running before then. So, what do I need to tell
    netnote on how to find vax notes files.

    In netnotes notebook I have :

    				NODE NAME ...       NODED
    				CONFERENCE ..	    WINDOWS95
    				NOTEBOOK ENTRY ...  WIN-95
    				CLASS          ...  MAIN

    In setup, should I use a pass through node ?
    Should I use TCP/IP , DecNet , NetBoui (spelling ?)

    My PC in located in Worburn,MA . My system is setup with a TCP/IP
    number if this would make a difference.

    Thanks  Bob

    re: WMOIS::NILSEN

    I don't actively use netnotes, but I do have it set up.

    Node Name: noted::
    Conference Filename: windows95

    entry and class names don't matter

    I use IP. I use a route through node. Just enter the IP address of a
    host machine that has both IP and DECnet.

    Hope this helps.

    The host machine also needs to be running Notes (i.e. it's pretty
    much got to be a VMS system); you can't just specify a UNIX system
    that's running both protocols.

        OK , So how do I find a node running both. Could someone explain what I
    need to do, or maybe just post/send the info I need.

    Thanks Bob

	If your site server doesn't have all the components, you might be
	able to point it to the node hosting your favorite notes conference.
	Just make sure it is running IP by ping'ing it.

g'day,

It (VMS) needs to be running V2.5 of the notes server s/w to allow
for ip/decnet routing
