196.0. "Setting Editor Defaults and Preferences" by EVMS::chiles.zko.dec.com::dkosko (David Kosko) Tue Mar 25 1997 15:57

Hello,

I'm new to NetNotes although I've been using DECnotes for some
time now. I seem to be having a problem setting the screen width
defaults on the note editor. The HELP facility says:

"The Default Text Width in the editor Options menu will set the
width of the Edit Window to about 73 characters. This is the
normal editor default. Unless you have changed the Edit Window
width, you should not have to reset it."

However I can find no editor Options menu to allow me to do this.
What am I missing? How can I set the default text width?

thanks,
dave

Use the following file to set the width properly.

	This is 80 columns wide.

To set the size, use the template in the previous note, and size your
window as you normally size a window - dragging a side/corner. Then,
under Options, select Save Window Placement.

And use a mono-spaced font, like Courier New.
