Hello,

One of our customers has the following problem with Linkworks v3.0.8 OSF and
External mail and HTML.

He wants to enable the option for sending and receiving HTML attachements.

He receives the following error in xmproc.log

2232.1Log file tells "cannot find format definition"UTROP1::utoschimmel1.uto.dec.com::SCHIMMEL_BWed May 14 1997 16:1625
Luc,

The information in .0 is somewhat messy (control.dat mixed with recvtags.txt
info). So deduction below is possibly based on wrong input.

The send operation fails since it wasn't able to find an OID given as input a
format definition (see "Type:" field in attachment block) using sendtags.txt
for the look-up. When I use the control.dat input from .0 on my machine,
evreything works fine (so HTML can be found). When I change HTML into
something which is not present in sendtags.txt, I get exactly the errors you
mentioned in the xmproc.log file. I achieved this by changing HTML into the
string "HTML<CTRL-A>". Since <CTRL-A> is a non-printable character, it could
be easy overlooked. In addition to the errors in the log file, I got a
LinkWorks event telling that the (wrong) format could not be found. The
LinkWorks event message dispslayed the actual (wrong) format.

Another misleading piece of information in .0 is that the failure seems to
occur when processing directory "s73" (as xmlisten tells in the log). The
information from control.dat seems to come from directory "e72" which
originally (when xmsend is busy) is called "s72". It doesn't line up.

Please check the actual definition of HTML in the LinkWorks dmformat table
and check the actual contents of sendtags.txt

    Hello,

    Berd.

The problem is fixed. A incorrect character in the control.dat after
    the Type: HTML.

    Thanks,

    Regards,

    Luc.
